4 Inch Desuperheaters for Small Steam Lines

The SPAD Small Pipe Attemperator Desuperheater uses flange clamp mounting. It clamps between two steam pipe flanges, while water is supplied from a separate temperature control valve. This arrangement is intended for small steam piping and supports application-specific installation planning.

The desuperheaters are available in ASME B16.34 pressure classes 150, 300, 600, 900, 1500, 2500 and 2700. The appropriate class should be selected according to the steam system design conditions and application requirements.

The products are rated for temperatures up to 1200°F (650°C). Final selection should consider the customer’s steam conditions, piping arrangement, pressure class and required temperature-control performance.

Yes. Protecting piping and steam traps and protecting rotating seals are identified applications for these steam attemperators. By conditioning superheated steam, the products can support equipment protection where temperature control is required in a power or process plant system.

Spray water is fed from a separate temperature control valve. The fixed-nozzle spray-ring design and the external water-control arrangement should be evaluated together with the steam line, operating conditions and required degree of desuperheating.
