Marine Boiler Desuperheaters

B-Tech Valve offers fixed-nozzle spray-ring designs and variable-nozzle probe-type designs. The SPAD Small Pipe Attemperator Desuperheater uses a spray ring and flange clamp mounting, while the LPD Large Pipe Desuperheater uses a fully actuated variable-nozzle control valve with flanged insertion into the steam pipe.

The spray-ring and attemperator products are fed water from a separate temperature control valve. This arrangement supports controlled water injection for steam conditioning. Final water-control and sizing requirements should be reviewed against the boiler, steam piping, operating conditions, and downstream equipment.

The listed products are available in ASME B16.34 pressure classes 150, 300, 600, 900, 1500, 2500, and 2700. The appropriate class should be selected based on the steam system design conditions, piping requirements, and application specifications.

The listed desuperheater and attemperator products are temperature rated up to 1,200°F (650°C). Actual selection must also consider steam conditions, injection-water quality, control requirements, materials, and the operating limits of connected equipment.

Selection considers steam pipe size, steam flow, pressure, temperature, required outlet conditions, injection-water availability, installation arrangement, and downstream protection requirements.
