Desuperheaters for Breweries and Beverage Plants

B-Tech Valve offers the SPAD Small Pipe Attemperator Desuperheater, a fixed-nozzle spray-ring design, and the LPD Large Pipe Desuperheater, a probe-type variable-nozzle control valve and desuperheater assembly. The SPAD uses a fixed spray-ring design that clamps between two steam-pipe flanges. It receives feed water from a separate temperature-control valve. B-Tech Valve identifies the SPAD for smaller steam piping and application-specific steam conditioning requirements.

The LPD combines a probe-type variable-nozzle, fully actuated control valve with a desuperheater in one assembly. It is designed for steam pipes 6 inches and larger and installs through a 90-degree flanged insertion on the steam pipe. It supports steam conditioning and downstream equipment protection.

The listed desuperheater and attemperator designs are available in ASME B16.34 pressure classes 150, 300, 600, 900, 1500, 2500, and 2700. Final selection should match the steam system design conditions and the application information supplied for sizing.

The listed products are temperature rated up to 1,200°F (650°C). The appropriate configuration still depends on the complete steam application, including line size, operating conditions, pressure class, water supply, and required steam outlet temperature.
