Desuperheaters for Pharmaceutical Plant Steam

A desuperheater injects water into a steam line, where the water absorbs heat and evaporates. B-Tech Valve’s products use either a fixed-nozzle spray-ring design or a probe-type variable-nozzle control valve and desuperheater. Water is fed from a separate temperature control valve, allowing the assembly to condition steam for the application.

B-Tech Valve offers the SPAD Small Pipe Attemperator Desuperheater, Steam Attemperator and LPD Large Pipe Desuperheater. The SPAD and Steam Attemperator use fixed-nozzle spray-ring designs that clamp between steam pipe flanges. The LPD uses a variable-nozzle, fully actuated control valve and is intended for steam pipes 6 inches and larger.

Selection depends on the steam pipe size, operating conditions, control requirements and installation arrangement. Fixed-nozzle spray-ring designs clamp between two steam pipe flanges, while the LPD uses a 90-degree flanged probe insertion with variable-nozzle control for larger pipe systems. B-Tech Valve sizes products for each customer’s application.

The listed products are available in ASME B16.34 pressure classes 150, 300, 600, 900, 1500, 2500 and 2700.
